Don't go into a game expecting a very specific strategy that requires a specific set of cards is going to work, because may not get any of them. ![]() Combos are your friend, Even bad* cards on their own can become very powerful when combo'd. I'm just saying, that going into a game with a specific strategy, ignoring every other strategy that could lead you to victory, and blame your loss on 'balance', is not a solid argument. Nor am I advocating that balancing is complete. I'm not saying that certain cards are not super strong and getting them will go a long way to guarentee victory, but I've won several games without getting a single one of those types of cards. If I complained that a card deck was bloated, or unbalanced because my strategy of winning with a *(refering to how you worded it: "When everything falls perfectly") Royal flush I would be laughed at by every other player at the table. But Its so rare that I get the cards I need, I may as well be rolling a die, and when I get the cards I need, I win!" "I go into every game of Poker with the strategy of getting a Royal Flush to win. Sounds innocent enough? Lets see if it sounds like a sound argument in a different game: ![]() Originally posted by digitalmoss: I go into each game with a strategy that I try to implement but it really seems like I might as well roll a d20 and declare myself a winner when I roll a 20. Other than that, the patches have been nothing but buffs for the player and nerfs for the enemies. Only spawning weasels from wave 10-20 and spreading them out significantly increased the difficulty in that segment of the game (can't catapult them all), and the granary nerf was unnecessary because noone actually uses farms (you'd get attacked by 2+ waves before you see any returns should at least reduce the build cost of granary or make it affect the grain card as well). Regarding balance, I'd say the waves just come too fast for casual players. Run as much grain in parallel as you can until you replace it because potter is literally garbage (33gold net profit from a 5card hand) and cheese gets watered down with more cards.Īlso, sometimes taking gold from chests isn't bad if it lets you afford stuff from the market or builder skill (it's practically the same as pick a card, but with more options). If you're in a situation that you're waiting on redraw cooldown, then you're going to lose 90% of the time because waves start coming at the same interval. I am reserving my review until the dev group has had a chance to get this to final release (when is that planned btw?) but at this time I could not recommend the game despite several positive attributes (charm, charisma, decent art and sound, etc). Please tell me that the development group understands this problem and is working on it and I will be patient. As for actually beating level 30, it seems like that is impossible (short of using broken cards to game the game) I go into each game with a strategy that I try to implement but it really seems like I might as well roll a d20 and declare myself a winner when I roll a 20. ![]() I have played a lot of these types of tower defense games (and deck builders) and I realize it is just as important to know what NOT to buy as it is to recognize the good cards. And I have never been able to get past the boss that hits at level 26 (my troops seem pointless at that point. I only get into the 20's when everything falls perfectly (about 1 game in 20 at this point). Most games today end by round 6-9 because the RNG shorts me on either troop/economy/building cards. That said, with every patch the game balance in this game seems to get more out of whack than before. I also realize that this is still in early release (read: still being worked on) Let me start by saying that, as a software developer, I can understand and appreciate everything this game has accomplished so far. ![]()
